My artistic practice is grounded in a bifurcated methodology that honors both the intuitive and the cognitive dimensions of creation. The initial stage is governed by a disciplined form of automatism: within a matter of moments, I allow the subconscious to guide my hand, producing gestural marks that are at once spontaneous and subtly informed by years of artistic mastery—much like the effortless fluency of a signature, shaped by repetition and muscle memory.
This intuitive outpouring is then preserved in its entirety, serving as a raw, unmediated record of the subconscious. In the subsequent phase, I engage in a process of cognitive refinement—revealing latent forms, orchestrating color harmonies, and making deliberate compositional decisions. Here, the artistry lies in amplifying and crystallizing the subconscious voice, transforming instinctive marks into a coherent visual language.
My approach draws inspiration from the Surrealist tradition of psychic automatism, yet seeks to advance it by integrating contemporary sensibilities and a heightened awareness of the artist’s agency. The resulting works are not merely exercises in chance, but rather dialogues between intuition and intellect—each piece a testament to the enduring power of the unconscious, elevated through conscious intervention.
In presenting this body of work, I aim to contribute a fresh perspective to the ongoing evolution of abstraction, inviting collectors and connoisseurs to witness the dynamic interplay between mastery and mystery, process and product, history and innovation.
